The Eye Health Examination Wales (EHEW) has been set-up in conjunction with the Welsh Assembly Government to provide free eye-care for selected groups of patients who may be at higher risk of eye disease, along with patients who develop a sudden eye problem.
You may qualify for an EHEW if you:
- have an acute eye problem that requires urgent attention
- are referred to us by your GP
- are uniocular
- are hearing impaired
- have retinitis pigmentosa
- are at risk of eye disease due to family history
- are at risk of eye disease due to ethnic background
You may also qualify if:
- you are referred by the Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service Wales
- you are being monitored for dry Age-related Macula Degeneration
- you have been referred by the Hospital Eye Service following cataract surgery
